Jungle animals & bright colors were the main theme for this nursery. If you’ve read any of my other baby blanket posts, you know I love the challenge of designing a blanket that coordinates with the nursery theme but still fits within my mission of making timeless, understated, and functional pieces.
I’ve recently seen and fallen in love with designs made through eyelets, and I wanted to make my new girl something elegant but modern using this technique! Specifically I was really feeling a unique spin on a diamond design. For some reason the diamond designs were channeling “Disney Castle” for me. I think there are some diamond pane windows there. And obviously we’re all Disney princesses so it just made sense.

A few months ago I suddenly came down with carpal tunnel symptoms. I wasn’t sure what it was until my OT friend confirmed it for me. It was that awful almost-numb-but-not-because-it-hurts-a-lot kind of pain. Could have been a combination of crocheting, unpacking, texting too much, I don’t know. I made few changes. The first was to my color scale. Once I started making it, the minty green just felt “colder” than the darker green. It was throwing me off visually so I switched those up. While I was at it I swapped the blues too, so that the lighter green would fade into the lighter blue instead of the darker blue. Here’s the final rundown!
