Hi friends! I’m so excited that it’s my turn to share my Love and Joy holiday CAL blanket square! I’ve designed a square for this CAL for the past 3 years, hosted by the lovely Claire of Bear Rye Crochet. Each CAL consists of 30 8-inch squares that you can join to create a beautiful and unique winter themed blanket.
You can check out her CAL post to see all the past squares, and subscribe to her email list to make sure you get the ones for the rest of the month.
If you don’t want to blog hop all month, for a limited time you can purchase a bundle of all 30 PDF patterns for $10 through my affiliate link here.
See last year’s design: Nordic Snowflake
My Design
This year’s theme is what brings you joy. Since we moved to northern Virginia in 2018, I’ve been gaining interest and finding joy in my [way too heavily landscaped] yard. We have tons of flowers that pop up in the spring, and flowering azaleas aplenty. We also have a cute, perfect little holly tree. I love classic motifs, and what’s more classic than holly berries.
The CAL’s colors of deep green, deep red, and gold, was a perfect fit for holly leaves. The first year I participated in this CAL, I made a C2C Nordic snowflake, and I wanted to revisit that form of intarsia to create this design.
The CAL
As part of the CAL, you can get a FREE download of this pattern today, December 4th, by going to Bear Rye Crochet’s blog post to find the Ravelry code. Then head to my Ravelry shop to download the PDF for free!
Don’t forget, if you don’t want to blog hop all month, you can purchase a bundle of all 30 pattern PDFs for $10 through my affiliate link here.
You can also join the CAL Facebook group to collaborate with other participants and designers.
Jolly Holly Square C2C Pattern
This square uses the corner to corner (C2C) crochet method, and the pattern is written for each C2C block, not each individual stitch. If you need a C2C tutorial, you can find a good one here.
You can follow the graph below, or the written instructions that follow.
