Hello, friends! It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything new to post. I took this whole summer “off” from crocheting and working on patterns, and it was a really great reset for me. It’s officially FALL now and I’m so happy to be making again. This quick, easy, chunky blanket was just what I needed to get a quick “win” to get back in the game.

As with much of my inspiration, this one came from a Magnolia blanket I saw in an ad (I have no shame in my Joanna fangirl game). It had rapidly decreasing stripes, which spoke to me and made me want to make a super simple version.

I hadn’t made a chunky blanket since the Rustic Tartan Throw, and I couldn’t believe that Lion Brand’s Color Made Easy has been discontinued! Fortunately it was an easy process to find a new category 5 yarn, as I’d been wanting to try Lion Brand’s new Hue+Me yarn for a while now. Hue+Me has the same fiber make up as Wool Ease (80/20 acrylic/wool), which is one of my favorite yarns to work with.

The colors Hue+Me offers don’t disappoint and it was easy to find my favorite combo. I chose Desert (a classic beige) as the main color, and Fatigues (a muted dark green) as my contrast color. I sized up to a 9mm hook to create a thick and warm blanket that still had great drape.

ALL the colors of Hue+Me go so well together, so you’ll have no trouble putting together your own combo! Of course you can substitute your own favorite bulky weight yarn no problem.

This chunky crochet throw works up SO fast, quick enough to crank out a couple as holiday gifts 😉 And with only one stitch it’s a great rhythmic and mindless project to work on.

Pin for later!

I hope you enjoy making this blanket as much as I did! Read on below for the free pattern, or find an inexpensive ad-free version in my Etsy and Ravelry shops.
