Hi friends! I’m so excited that it’s my turn to share my Winter Wondersquare! I joined Claire of Bear Rye Crochet and designing 1 of 30 8-inch squares that you can join to create a beautiful and unique winter themed blanket! You can check out her CAL post to see all the past squares, and subscribe to her email list to make sure you get the ones for the rest of the month!
My Design
I’ve been on a huge Scandinavian kick lately, and I couldn’t resist designing a Nordic snowflake square. I’ve always loved this style, but I’m drawn to it even more because I’m Norwegian!
The Norwegian comes from my maternal grandfather, and I recently discovered that HIS grandmother was an avid crocheter (I even have a few of her beautiful and intricate doilies!). To top it off, I recently named my sweet third babe after her 🙂
The snowflake from my Holiday Hygge Throw was the perfect size for the CAL blanket, and I thought it would look great in a bright but muted blue. I even used some stash yarn for this, so that was win.
This square uses the corner to corner (C2C) crochet method, and the pattern is written for each C2C block, not each individual stitch. If you need a C2C tutorial, you can find a good one HERE.
You can follow the graph below, or the written instructions that follow.
You can also get a concise PDF of this pattern in my Etsy and Ravelry shops.
You can also join the CAL Facebook group!
I’d love to see your finished square! Tag me @thetravelinghooker on Instagram and use the hashtag #winterwondersquares.
