Happy February, friends!

If you’re like me, you’re aggressively searching for fun but QUICK Valentine’s Day makes because you love to be crafty, but don’t have much time.

I got you covered with: the mini pillow.

Do you have mini pillows? My mom had a fair few, and I just loved them. She had some seasonal ones and some teacher themed ones (to showcase her profession). They were adorable. She’d put them out in front of her throw pillows on the couch to add a little more love to her living room.

Honestly anything mini is just way cute and I can’t handle it. It’s like the puppy of pillows.

I’ve been loving corner-to-corner crochet lately. I made the Holiday Hygge Throw back in November, followed by a Nordic Snowfalke Blanket Square in December – both using C2C to create my design.

Now I have about 73 design ideas – some BIG! But this one is very small 🙂

The pillow I made is 10 x 10 inches. I used stash yarn, and got this pillow form on Amazon, so I never even had to leave my house.

I used some of a giant Red Heart Jumbo skein in Aran for my main color. I also had about half a skein of Lion Brand Homespun in Candy Apple. To be honest, I struggle with what to make with Homespun. But I had a light bulb moment and I just LOVE how the texture of the heart on my pillow is a little different and stands out.

10×10 is a perfect “mini” size. I made mine to fit cutely and comfortably on my favorite green arm chairs I have from my mom’s house. It sits so perfectly! It would also look adorable on an entryway bench, or on your child’s bed (where mine will likely end up).

Mini pillow perfect for arm chairs, entryway benches, or your child's bed!

The structure of this pillow is 2 panels, seamed all the way around. Each panel is 15 x 15 C2C squares.

The graph for the front is below. For the back side, you only need to make a plain 15×15 C2C square in your “light” color.

After reading some advice from the Make & Do Crew, I sized this pillow cover to be only slightly smaller than the 10×10 inch pillow form. C2C has quite a few gaps, and you don’t want it to stretch all that much.

Back Panel

Repeat front panel pattern using Light Color for all stitches. Increase on both sides until Row 15, then decrease on both sides until Row 29.

Cut yarn leaving a tail ~42″ long.

Seaming

This seaming method creates an almost-seamless finish. However I still suggest seaming your first 3 sides with your panels turned inside out.

Starting in a corner, with your panels’ right sides facing each other, seam the first 3 sides of the panels together using a tapestry needle and the following technique:

After attaching your panels, do not cross the seam and insert your needle on the initial side. Instead, insert your needle on the same side, crossing the seam back the other way. See pictures below:

Turn your project right-side-out and insert the pillow form. Continue seaming the final side using the same technique as above.

Secure, tie off, and weave in ends.
